Learn Transcendental Meditation (TM)
on Retreat
A simple practice with profound benefits…
Enjoy more than just a deeply restful, calming and rejuvenating break — return with a life-enhancing skill that
will continue to benefit you for years to come. Transcendental Meditation offers a uniquely simple, natural,
and highly effective method of meditation that stands apart from other approaches. By allowing the body and
mind to access deep rest and release stress at a profound level, it supports overall well-being effortlessly
and naturally across all areas of life.

What is Transcendental Meditation?
Transcendental Meditation (TM) has its roots in the spiritual knowledge of Yoga from the Vedic Tradition which originated in India over 5,000 years ago – a body of knowledge of how to live a full and expansive life. Not connected with any religion, TM is practiced by people of all ages, abilities, beliefs and lifestyles. It is now more relevant than ever for those seeking stability and inner calm in our diverse, fast-paced modern way of life.
Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural technique practiced while sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, for just 20 minutes twice a day. It uses a silent sound—known as a mantra—to allow your mind to settle into a state of deep stillness, effortlessly.
There’s no concentration, no effort to control the mind—just a gentle process that brings calm from within. While your mind becomes quieter, your body enters a state of deep rest, often deeper than sleep, helping to release built-up stress and tension.
Why Learn TM?
Millions of people around the world practice TM every day and testify to its results—and over 650 scientific studies back its benefits. It’s a highly effective evidence based practice to enhance mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
When stress is released during the deep rest of our TM practice it awakens the body’s natural healing intelligence (any medications we take are a replica of what the body should naturally be able to produce!). The nervous system is able to gradually come back into balance, and any condition which has been caused or exacerbated by stress (that’s pretty much everything!) can potentially be alleviated by our daily TM practice.
Whether you’re looking to feel more present, sleep better, reduce stress or to cope easily and effectively with the challenges of daily life, TM offers a practical tool you can use for life.
Reported benefits of TM include:
Reduced stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression
Greater mental clarity and emotional calm
Increased focus and productivity
Better sleep and more energy during the day
Improved relationships and emotional resilience
Relief from health issues including high blood pressure, addiction, chronic fatigue, insomnia, PTSD, and migraines

Course Structure & Content:
The TM course follows the origional standardised structure as laid down by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi when he brought out his revival of this ancient Vedic knowledge in the late fifties:
Personal Instruction:
The teaching of TM follows a time-honoured tradition passed down over thousands of years. You will start with a private 1-2-1, one-hour session, beginning with you witnessing a short ceremony—chanted in Sanskrit, the classical language of yoga—not as a religious act, but as a moment of gratitude and stillness to honour the lineage of the practice. This sets the perfect conditions for your teacher to pass on your mantra in just the right way.
Once you have received your mantra, you’ll then begin meditating under guidance, have the chance to meditate on your own to build your confidence, and end by sharing your experience in discussion with your teacher. Everyone’s experience is different, so this personal time ensures you feel confident and supported from the start.
Over the course of the Retreat, three further group sessions will build up your understanding of the technique you have learned. These relaxed, supportive meetings will continue to answer any doubts and questions that arise, build your confidence, and ensure your practice becomes a powerful and enjoyable part of your life.
First Group Session: Verifying Correct Practice
We explore the experiences of the group both in and out of meditation (Of course, sharing is totally optional!) and learn how to recognise correct meditation practice. We also cover all the practical queries so that we know how to get the most out of our daily practice. These include when, where and how to start, how to fit it into our daily routine, when we can do extra, and how to deal with noise or disturbances.
This session is about making your practice work for your lifestyle, not the other way around!

Second Group Session: Understanding the Mechanics of Meditation
This is where things start to click for many people. You’ll gain deeper insight into the mind-body connection, and how TM helps release stress and tension held in the nervous system. We explore why thoughts naturally arise during meditation and how to deal with them. This session is a revelation for many people, allowing for enhanced experiences and greater satisfaction.

Third Group Session: Expanding Awareness – Longer term benefits & Higher States of Consciousness
In this final group meeting, we look at the bigger picture—how TM supports your growth over time and helps unlock your full human potential. We explore the truth of who we really are according to the body of knowledge of Yoga and how as we become more in tune with the laws of nature our thoughts, actions and desires and supported. This session often leaves people inspired and reconnected with a deeper sense of purpose and meaning.
